Keeping it working

Apps installed with a free Apple ID are signed for 7 days. After that, iOS won’t open them until they’re signed again. This is Apple’s rule for every sideloaded app, not something Mirrage adds.

Mirrage re-signs itself on your iPhone, with no computer needed. Open Settings → App refresh to see how many days are left and when it last refreshed.

  • Refresh automatically is on by default. With 3 days or fewer left, Mirrage refreshes the next time you leave the app while LocalDevVPN is on.
  • Refresh now does it straight away. It takes about a minute.
  • With 2 days or fewer left, a reminder appears on the map.

Mirrage closes for a moment when the refreshed copy installs. Open it again and you’ll see “good for another 7 days”. Your places, routes and settings are kept.

Refreshing needs the Apple ID that installed Mirrage. If you ticked Keep Mirrage working in Mirrage Setup, it’s already saved. Otherwise tap Sign in to refresh automatically in Settings → App refresh.

Your Apple ID is stored in the iPhone’s Keychain and only ever sent to Apple. To remove it, open Settings → App refresh → Apple ID → Forget Apple ID. See the Privacy Policy for the details.

If Apple asks for a two-factor code, or says your Apple ID has too many signing certificates, Mirrage asks you on screen.

Once the 7 days pass, iOS won’t open Mirrage, so it can’t refresh itself. Plug your iPhone in and run Mirrage Setup again. It reinstalls Mirrage and keeps your data. That’s why Mirrage starts refreshing 3 days early.

  • Keep LocalDevVPN switched on while you use Mirrage.
  • In Settings → Keep running, leave Silent audio and Background location on so iOS doesn’t pause Mirrage when you switch apps.

Updates can reset Developer Mode or the pairing. If Mirrage shows a setup banner after an update, tap it - it tells you exactly what’s needed. In the worst case, run Mirrage Setup again.
